The Colts will be in the market for a wide receiver in free agency, and Dontrelle Inman could be an affordable option.
General manager Chris Ballard acknowledged that the Colts will be looking to acquire some talent at wide receiver this offseason during his NFL Combine press conference. Dontrelle Inman is one of the most underrated wide receivers in this year’s class of free agents, and he could be a good fit in Indianapolis.
Inman spent the first three-and-a-half seasons of his career with the Chargers. He had a career year in 2016 where he gained 810 receiving yards and hauled in 4 touchdowns as he stepped up in a receiving corps that was decimated with injuries.
Inman fell out of the receiving rotation with the Chargers last season, and he was traded to Chicago halfway through the year.
Inman had a couple big games with a Bears team that was breaking in a new quarterback with 88 yards against the Packers and 94 yards against the Vikings in Week 17.
I believe Inman has the potential to be a very solid number three receiver, and he could even be a second option in a decent offense. His 6′ 3″ 198-pound frame would be a good compliment to T.Y. Hilton in the Colts’ receiving corps, and he probably won’t cost much money in free agency.
