Indianapolis Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson had the opportunity to talk with Tom Brady, and he’s revealing the advice he got from him.
As Anthony Richardson prepares for his NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts, he’s had the opportunity to get advice from some of the league’s greatest players. Richardson and his fellow Colts rookies had the privilege of sitting with franchise legends Edgerrin James and Antoine Bethea, and Richardson also got to chat with the recently retired Tom Brady.
Brady, who many consider the greatest quarterback of all time, hosted the top quarterbacks from the 2023 NFL Draft to lunch alongside Michael Rubin and Travis Scott. Parts of the conversation was shared on social media but much more was kept private. Recently, Richardson shared some of the advice that Brady gave to him.
In an interview with NBC Sports’ Matthew Berry, Richardson explained that when he met Brady, some of the advice that the retired quarterback shared with him was to be great overall, saying, “Be a great person, a great teammate, and a great leader. You do those three, and everything else will fall in line.”
Tom Brady advises Anthony Richardson to be a great person
In the interview, Richardson explained that Cam Newton is his All-time favorite player, and that’s who he modeled his game after, but that Brady is also high on his favorite players list because of his mindset. Richardson said that while their physical games are different, he loves how smart Brady is and how that helps him to be a great quarterback.
Tom Brady also surprised Richardson with even more advice and encouragement during a Fanatics project where rookies came into a locker room and were surprised with videos from their favorite players congratulating them on making the NFL and giving them advice on how to be successful.
In Brady’s video to Richardson, he noted Richardson’s reputation for being an even better person than he is a player. The rookies also received signed jerseys from these players, and Brady penned Richardson a message letting him know his best is yet to come.
That’s certainly what Richardson and all of the Indianapolis Colts fans are hoping, as Richardson prepares for his rookie season and sets out to become a great quarterback himself.
