The Colts continue to move forward with the process of hiring their next head coach as they will reportedly bring in Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels for an interview on Thursday.

Indianapolis is looking for a new head coach for the first time since 2012, and the Colts’ job is very attractive to some of the hot coaching prospects this offseason. Even with the question marks surrounding Andrew Luck’s health, he’s proven that he can be a franchise quarterback when healthy and that’s a rarity for a team hiring a new head coach.

Josh McDaniels is arguably the best coach available during this 2018 NFL coaching carousel, and general manager Chris Ballard has been aggressive in targeting him for Indianapolis’ vacant position after firing Chuck Pagano.

The Colts recently requested an interview with the Patriots’ offensive coordinator, and NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero is reporting that the Indianapolis front office will meet with him on Thursday.

Reports suggest that the Colts will also be interviewing Dave Toub, Matt Nagy, Kris Richard, Mike Vrabel, and Steve Wilks for the Job, and that list may be even longer by the time that this search is over.

We’ve already written up a comprehensive profile on Josh McDaniels‘ résumé and whether he’s a good fit for the Colts’ franchise moving forward. This interview will go a long way in determining whether Chris Ballard puts McDaniels at the top of his list of coaching candidates, and McDaniels needs to convince these NFL teams that he’s learned from his rough head coaching tenure in Denver.
