3 Colts players that need to have a great training camp
The Indianapolis Colts have officially reported for training camp, and this camp will be especially important for a few of Indy’s players.
The Indianapolis Colts are now officially in training camp. On Tuesday, the team reported to camp and they will have their first practice on Wednesday. With a first-year head coach, a rookie quarterback, veterans returning from injury, and even more veterans entering pivotal contract years, this training camp, and season as a whole, is a big one for the Colts.
As important as this camp is for everyone, there are a few players that really need a good camp, for one reason or another. Obviously, everyone is hoping that Anthony Richardson has a tremendous camp, and also that the entire offensive line will improve, but there are a few other players that need a strong August as well.
Let’s take a look at three Colts players that need to have an impressive training camp and why.
3. Kenny Moore II needs to have a strong camp
Defensive back Kenny Moore II is entering a very important year for his career. In 2021, Moore had the best season of his career, recording career-high production in multiple categories, and being selected for his first Pro Bowl. However, the 2022 season was the complete opposite. Injury limited Moore to just 12 games, and he struggled a bit when he was on the field, not making nearly as many plays as he did the year prior.
A big reason why is because Moore didn’t immediately click with Gus Bradley’s new system. Both have admitted that they weren’t necessarily on the same page last year, but that has since changed. Tough conversations in the offseason got the two on the same page, and Bradley is preparing to use Moore in a way that will allow him to showcase his play-making skills.
Moore will need to do that, as the 2023 season is the final year of his current contract. Last offseason, Moore made it clear that he was hoping to get paid then. That didn’t happen, but he’ll have the chance to prove his value this season. A big year could lead to Moore getting a big extension to stay with the Colts, and also helping the young secondary on the field. That all starts in training camp.
