2. Mo Alie-Cox needs to have a strong camp

Similar to Moore, Mo Alie-Cox will be playing for his future in Indianapolis. The tight end is entering his sixth season with the Colts, and since he hasn’t established himself as a lead tight end yet, the clock is ticking for Alie-Cox. That’s especially the case with all of the youth Indy has at the tight end position.

In the last three years, the Colts drafted four tight ends: Kylen Granson, Jelani Woods, Andrew Ogletree, and Will Mallory. Last season, both Granson and Woods had more receptions and receiving yards than Alie-Cox. Additionally, Ogletree was reportedly the best tight end in camp before tearing his ACL last year. With him returning healthy, there will be a lot of competition in the tight end room.

If Alie-Cox is going to stay around for the Colts moving forward, he must establish himself and find a way to separate himself from the younger tight ends on the roster. One way Alie-Cox could do that is by blocking. After Jack Doyle retired last offseason, his presence as a blocker was really missed in the tight end room.

Being a quality blocker, and also producing as a receiver, is one way Alie-Cox can prove his value. If he can’t do either of those things better than the younger tight ends on the roster, there’s a chance Mo Alie-Cox won’t even make the Week 1 roster.
