In less than a week, free agency will officially begin, one of the most chaotic and highly anticipated times of year for football fans. The Indianapolis Colts have plenty of free agents on their roster, none of whom are expected to be tagged by the Colts.
Some of the Colts' free agents are almost certainly leaving, while others fans are hoping to see return. In the past, free agency has been a sore spot in Indianapolis, with general manager Chris Ballard previously having focused on re-signing current players and refusing to bring on new talent. It is therefore difficult to predict how much turnover there actually will be.
Quarterbacks
Name | Age in 2025 | Cap Hit | 2025 Team |
---|---|---|---|
Joe Flacco | 40 | $4.5M | TBD |
Sam Ehlinger | 27 | $900K | TBD |
Jason Bean | 26 | $800K | Indianapolis Colts |
Flacco is almost certainly going to be leaving Indianapolis; despite his age, he still seems to expect the chance to play as a starter. Ehlinger's fate is much more uncertain. The Colts may seem content to keep him at QB3, but Ehlinger is still relatively young, and has not been given the chance to do much of anything with his time in Indianapolis. Yet he also is said to be incredibly close to Anthony Richardson, but will that be enough to keep Ehlinger in Indianapolis?
Bean signed a contract keeping him with the Colts through 2027 in January.
Running Backs
Name | Age in 2025 | Cap Hit | 2025 Team |
---|---|---|---|
Tyler Goodson | 25 | $1.03M | Indianapolis Colts |
Trey Sermon | 26 | $1.05M | TBD |
The Colts announced in January that Goodson would have another year in Indianapolis, with a one-year contract extension through 2025. Sermon's fate, however, is still unknown. Neither Goodson nor Sermon have had much of an impact on the run game, living in the shadow of superstar Jonathan Taylor. It has been rumored that the Colts may be considering a running back in the draft, which could indicate that while Goodson is getting another chance with the Colts, Sermon may not.
Wide Receivers
Name | Age in 2025 | Cap Hit | 2025 Team |
---|---|---|---|
Ashton Dulin | 28 | $2.68M | Indianapolis Colts |
Juwann Winfree | 29 | $0 | TBD |
Dulin has made a big impact on special teams, but otherwise, has not seen much action since being injured in 2023. But given how reliable he has been with punt coverage, it seems likely that the Colts will want to keep him around, especially as he won't cost them too much.
Tight Ends
Name | Age in 2025 | Cap Hit | 2025 Team |
---|---|---|---|
Mo Alie-Cox | 32 | $0 | TBD |
Kylen Granson | 27 | $0 | Philadelphia Eagles |
The Colts' tight end room is notoriously bad, and Alie-Cox has been hinting that he hopes to leave Indianapolis to join a team that has a better chance of winning. While Alie-Cox isn't always a reliable receiver, he's a solid blocker, and the Colts may want to see him return. Granson, however, is almost certainly leaving Indianapolis.
Offensive Line
Name | Age in 2025 | Cap Hit | 2025 Team |
---|---|---|---|
Ryan Kelly | 32 | $9.5M | Minnesota Vikings |
Will Fries | 27 | $0 | Minnesota Vikings |
Mark Glowinski | 33 | $0 | TBD |
Danny Pinter | 29 | $0 | TBD |
Ryan Coll | 24 | $0 | Waived by Colts |
Wesley French | 29 | $0 | Indianapolis Colts |
The three biggest question marks here are Kelly, Fries, and Smith. All three are talented, though Kelly in particular is older, and while he has made it clear that he prefers to stay in Indianapolis, the feeling does not seem to be mutual. Fries and Smith are both elite-level players, but Fries has missed much of 2024 with a tibia fracture and Smith was absent for unnamed personal reasons. There are some questions there as to whether or not they can be relied upon to return to form, and remain healthy and able to play.
Glowinski and Pinter may remain, but only to ensure there is depth on the offensive line, but neither is likely to end up a starter if they are re-signed.
Defensive Line
Name | Age in 2025 | Cap Hit | 2025 Team |
---|---|---|---|
Taven Bryan | 29 | $0 | TBD |
Dayo Odeyingbo | 26 | $0 | Chicago Bears |
Odeyingbo is seen as one of the most in-demand free agents on the market in 2025, one that the Colts shouldn't let go. Bryan, however, is much less likely to remain in Indianapolis.
Linebackers
Name | Age in 2025 | Cap Hit | 2025 Team |
---|---|---|---|
E.J. Speed | 30 | $0 | Houston Texans |
Grant Stuard | 27 | $0 | Detroit Lions |
Segun Olubi | 26 | $1.03M | Indianapolis Colts |
Cameron McGrone | 25 | $1.1M | TBD |
The linebackers room in Indianapolis is a mixed bag. While Stuard is a reliable enough talent, Speed is one of the league leaders in missed tackles, while McGrone has been a key player on special teams. Will any of them return?
Olubi signed a one-year contract extension in January, meaning he will stay for another year.
Safeties
Name | Age in 2025 | Cap Hit | 2025 Team |
---|---|---|---|
Ronnie Harrison | 28 | $0 | TBD |
Julian Blackmon | 27 | $0 | TBD |
Trevor Denbow | 27 | $0 | TBD |
Analysts have recommended that the Colts keep both Harrison and Blackmon - Harrison, for his work on special teams and to provide depth, and Blackmon because he has been a steady, reliable player who might flourish even more under Lou Anarumo. Denbow has been a core part of the special teams squad, but injuries may call into question whether or not he's able to stay healthy.
Cornerbacks
Name | Age in 2025 | Cap Hit | 2025 Team |
---|---|---|---|
Chris Lammons | 29 | $1.06M | TBD |
Tre Flowers | 32 | $0 | TBD |
David Long | 27 | $0 | Indianapolis Colts |
Cornerback is one of the Colts' biggest needs, and none of their current CBs are particularly exceptional players. Lammons, Flowers, and Long may be kept on to provide more depth, but ultimately, it wouldn't be surprising if the Colts choose to let them all go and start fresh.
