Following an impressive preseason performance, Tony Brown has a good chance to make the final roster for the Indianapolis Colts.

One of the many defensive players the Indianapolis Colts added this offseason was veteran defensive back, Tony Brown. After bouncing around to five different teams since going undrafted in 2018, many thought Brown would just be an offseason member for Indianapolis with a very small chance to make the regular season roster. However, it now looks like Brown has a chance to make it to the season with the Colts.

In Indy’s preseason game against the Detroit Lions, the Colts didn’t play their starters. This gave guys like Brown extended reps to bolster their chances of making the final roster. Brown took full advantage of the opportunity, making several splash plays and consistently jumping off the screen.

In the game, Tony Brown had six tackles, one for a loss, two pass deflections, and an interception that he returned for 28 yards. After a performance like that, if Brown can finish out camp strongly, he has a good chance to make the final roster.

Will the Colts have space for Tony Brown?

Currently, Brown is listed as the No. 2 slot cornerback behind Kenny Moore, and that should give him a very good chance to make the final roster as long as he keeps performing. Like Moore, Brown possesses a versatile skillset as a defensive back and can be useful all around the field.

Because of that, he can provide the Colts with depth at multiple positions, not just at nickel. However, if something unfortunate does happen where Indianapolis has to be without Kenny Moore for multiple games, Brown can help fill the void in the secondary.

Typically, when it comes to depth pieces making a final roster, their ability and willingness to play special teams is a huge factor. Brown is an incredibly athletic defensive back so he should be able to help Indy’s special teams unit out. With all of those factors working in his favor, Tony Brown has a pretty good shot to make the 53-man roster in Indianapolis.
