The Indianapolis Colts came into the 2021 NFL season with tons of momentum, but that positivity was completely blunted by two contenders in the Rams and Seahawks, who decimated Indianapolis’ iffy secondary and put enough pressure on Carson Wentz to force him into mistakes.

How will the Colts be rewarded for their troubles? How about a matchup against Derrick Henry and the rival Tennessee Titans, who are fresh off a thrilling road comeback against the very same Seahawks team that took down Frank Reich and the Colts?

With the Jaguars a long way away from competing due to their rebuild and the Texans forced to be without surprise starting sensation Tyrod Taylor for around a month due to an injury, this could be the matchup that decides the AFC South down the line.

Even if Wentz were healthy, Tennessee would be a challenge. Unfortunately, he sprained both of his ankles in the Los Angeles game, and there is a real chance that Jacob Eason is under center against the Titans. Do the Colts have a chance?

According to our friends at WynnBet, the Titans are favored -260 on the money line (bet $260 to win $100), while the Colts come in at +205 (bet $100 to win $205). If you prefer to bet the spread, Tennessee has -115 odds to cover -5.0, while Indianapolis has -105 odds to make up that +5.0 difference.

The over/under for Sunday’s game is set at 48.0, with the over getting -110 odds and the under coming in exactly the same at -110.

Colts vs Titans Prediction Week 3

If you were to try and select a winner before the second half of the Seattle game, Indianapolis might be the pick, as the Titans looked lethargic on both sides. However, Henry started cooking, Ryan Tannehill could fit his passes into a keyhole, and the combination of AJ Brown and Julio Jones overwhelmed Seattle.

In order to win, the Colts need to limit the explosive plays in the secondary, get Jonathan Taylor and the ground game working against a very suspect Tennessee defense, and get the ball in the hands of Michael Pittman Jr. early and often. However, this is easier said than done.

If Wentz doesn’t play, expect Eason to at least make a few nice throws while showing off his arm strength, even if he may struggle in his first extended action. Even if Wentz plays, some less than encouraging performances from the first two weeks look like a bad omen heading into this game.
