Colts rookie wide receiver Deon Cain has a chance to earn some playing time this season, and the reports about his performance have been very positive.
The Colts’ wide receivers may be the most interesting position group to keep an eye on as the team prepares for the 2018 season.
T.Y. Hilton is the only proven commodity among the receiving corps, which provides an opportunity for the rest of the group to take on bigger roles this year.
One of those receivers with a potential to break out this year is rookie Deon Cain.
The former Clemson receiver fell to the sixth round of this year’s draft due to some character concerns after getting in trouble during his college career, but his talent was impressive enough for him to be considered a first or second round prospect.
I predicted Cain would have the biggest impact out of the 11 rookies to join Indianapolis’ roster this year, and the Colts’ reporters have been impressed by what they’ve seen from him thus far.

The fact that Deon Cain is making plays during red zone drills is especially encouraging because the Colts desperately need a player to make contested catches on the opposite side of T.Y. Hilton.
Cain also has the speed and ball skills to add another deep threat to the offense alongside Hilton.
We’ve still got a long way to go before Indianapolis kicks off the 2018 regular season, but the early returns from Deon Cain have been encouraging.
Don’t get too swept up in tales from OTA’s, but it’s okay to get excited about what Cain can bring to this offense next season. And he may be a player to keep an eye on as a sleeper in your fantasy football draft.
