The Colts will meet with one of the top linebacker prospects in this year’s class as there are only a few weeks left before the draft.

The Colts still need to add some talent at the linebacker position after they chose not to address that hole on their roster in free agency.

Luckily this year’s draft class has multiple prospects that could be a good fit in the middle of Indianapolis’ defense.

One of those players is Georgia’s Roquan Smith, who is set to head to Indianapolis for a visit this week.

We had the Colts taking Roquan Smith with the third overall pick in our second mock draft of the offseason before Indianapolis traded down to the sixth pick. However, Smith could still be available when Indianapolis is on the clock on draft night.

More from Horseshoe Heroes

Smith was incredibly productive at Georgia with 85 solo tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks for the Bulldogs last season as he nearly led them to a national title. He also turned some heads with a 4.51-second 40-yard dash at 236 pounds during the NFL Combine.

Smith is equally strong against the run and in pass coverage, and he is a great example of what a modern linebacker looks like in today’s league.

General manager Chris Ballard added a guard and a wide receiver and lost Jon Bostic in free agency, so they may be banking on addressing the linebacker position with a high pick in the draft.

I’d be excited to see Roquan Smith in a Colts uniform next season, and he’ll have a chance to picture himself as a Colt during his visit to Indianapolis this week.
