The Indianapolis Colts All-Pro punter Pat McAfee was recently revealed as the highest rated punter in Madden ’16. As the best punter in the popular sports video game, McAfee received a rating of 95 overall (via the official Madden web site):

Of course, McAfee joins the likes of some of his elite teammates Andrew Luck (94 overall rating) and Vontae Davis (95 overall rating), who were also among the top rated players at their respective positions.

While his punts may be fewer and farther between in real life this season, the Boomstick is no doubt one of the best punters in all of football. He’s coming off both his 1st career All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors, after a spectacular year in which he averaged 46.7 yards per punt (8th best in NFL) and 42.8 net yards per punt (3rd best in NFL).

However, among his other special teams responsibilities, he also led the league in touchbacks last season with 70 touchbacks on kickoffs. Not to mention, McAfee was 3 for 3 on onside kick recoveries, including this gem against the Houston Texans in Week 6 last year:

Did I mention he also holds field goals for the legendary Adam Vinatieri?

Simply put, McAfee was a big reason as to why the Colts had among one of the best special teams units in the league last season. Quite frankly, he deserves to be the best punter in Madden ’16, as he’s among one of the best in the business at his particular craft.

Proving punters can be athletes too.

For gaming fans, Madden is slated to hit shelves on August 25, 2015, and will be available on the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One platforms. This year’s cover athlete is the New York Giants spectacular wideout Odell Beckham Jr., so be sure to be on the lookout.
