Zaire Franklin’s take on Colts' Kenny Moore move isn’t adding up

Zaire Franklin didn't seemingly want to be a part of the Indianapolis Colts anymore. Kenny Moore definitely didn't want to be. Now, neither are.

The difference between the two is that Moore openly requested a trade while Franklin and Indy mutually agreed to part. This seems to be missed on the new Green Bay Packers linebacker, though, based on his social media reaction to Moore's being let go on Thursday.

Franklin wrote, "Some people deserve the honor of finishing their career where they started. KMo (Moore) is one of them smh."

Zaire Franklin sounds off about the Indianapolis Colts releasing Kenny Moore but is completely wrong

It is the "smh" part that many fans reacted to because, well...it's confusing. The abbreviation implies that Franklin was slightly disgusted by Moore's release. If that is the case, then he would appear to have no awareness of the situation, which makes his reaction ignorant, in the truest sense of the word.

Kenny Moore reportedly asked to be traded, but the Colts couldn't find a trade partner. Still with the team after the 2026 NFL draft, the nickelback asked for his release. He absolutely didn't want to be working in Indianapolis anymore, and the team granted him his request.

In other words, while Franklin is right that some players do "deserve the honor" of finishing their careers with the team that originally drafted or signed them, Moore didn't want that honor. He wanted out, and Indy let him leave.

Moreover, Franklin appears to be trying to disrespect the team that drafted him in the seventh round of the 2018 draft, kept him on the roster even though he wasn't a starter, and then gave him the chance to start. He was a good tackler for a while and great against the run. He was awful at pass coverage.

The chip on the linebacker's shoulder seems unwarranted toward the team that took a chance on him when no other would. It isn't the Indianapolis Colts fault that Zaire Franklin had a career passer rating allowed of 105.2 and whiffed on a career-high 13.9 percent of his tackles last season. Yet, he appears to act as if it is.

As for Kenny Moore, he is now a free agent. He won't ever be back with the Indianapolis Colts, most likely, but he was quite good for most of his career. He might find success with another team, too. The sad part is that Zaire Franklin seemingly just made the knee-jerk reaction of blaming the Colts for the parting instead of Moore simply wanting to be elsewhere.
