Though their playoff hopes have been destroyed after an embarrassing loss to the New York Giants, the Indianapolis Colts will look to end the season on a high note with a victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, a divisional rival who have a history of giving the Colts trouble.
Now, fans have an official date and time for the final game of the season.
The date and time for the Colts-Jaguars match was to-be-determined earlier this season, with some games set to take place on Saturday. The Colts were not included in that slate of games, however, and they will once again play on Sunday at 1:00 pm. The season finale for both teams will be played at home in Indianapolis, at Lucas Oil Stadium, and air on FOX.
There is little for the Colts to play for in this game, beyond redeeming themselves from their Week 17 humiliation. It was initially believed that the Colts had a chance to make the playoffs, as their schedule in the last weeks of the season was the easiest in the league, but the Giants -- one of the worst teams in the league -- tore through the Colts like tissue paper. Until their game against the Colts, the Giants had not won a single game at home, and were 2-13. It was assumed that this would be an easy win for the Colts, but instead, the Colts seemed inept in virtually every way possible, and their hopes of making the playoffs were destroyed -- and questions were raised about the future of the team.
The Jaguars will likely be a tough opponent for the Colts, despite also being one of the worst teams in the league. The Colts have a long history of struggling against the Jaguars, particularly at home, so while this game will take place in Indianapolis, there is good reason for Colts fans to be concerned.
