The Indianapolis Colts are, like every other team in the NFL, preparing for free agency and how best to improve their roster so they can potentially be a playoff contender in 2025. There are already lots of options the Colts should consider, but a new bombshell report is one that should make general manager Chris Ballard sit up and pay attention.
Just before Super Bowl LIX kicked off, Dallas Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones announced the team was considering trading superstar linebacker Micah Parsons.
As the Landry Hat pointed out, these are - for now - just rumors, and Cowboys fans and analysts are insisting Parsons won't actually get traded. Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb specifically called out Jones, tweeting, "Y'all aren’t tired of this? Every offseason, top of the charts... Let’s just win ball games and that’s with 11! SMH." And yes, it would be absolutely insane for the Cowboys to trade the player who is, arguably, their biggest superstar, but let's be honest: teams do absolutely insane things all the time.
Just ask the New York Giants.
There's no telling as of now whether or not Jones was just trying to get attention, or if he is actually considering a trade. It is worth noting that Parsons was not happy with the firing of head coach Mike McCarthy, calling it "devastating." Regardless of how Parsons may feel about staying in Dallas, if there is any chance of a trade taking place, you can bet that every team in the NFL will sit up and take notice. That should, of course, include the Colts.
The Colts desperately need to improve their overall tackling, as missed tackles were a huge problem in 2024. They also need a linebacker, as both E.J. Speed and Grant Stuard are free agents this year and may not stay in Indianapolis.
Chris Ballard has been an utter failure when it comes to free agency in the past, but 2025 is supposed to be his chance at redemption. If there is even the slightest chance the Cowboys could make such a monumentally stupid move as to let go of Micah Parsons, Ballard should be ready to take advantage.
