The Colts could steal Pro Bowl linebacker Harold Landry from the Titans

One of many, many needs the Indianapolis Colts have on defense for 2025 is at linebacker. While Zaire Franklin is formidable and one of the best LBs in the league, he's also the only reliable linebacker for Indianapolis. The Colts need someone to add depth to the position, as E.J. Speed is set to be a free agent, and even if he stays, there are big problems with missed tackles between Franklin and Speed.

Could the answer come from one of the Colts' own division rivals?

Tennessee Titans linebacker Harold Landry has been granted permission by the Colts to seek a trade, with two years left on his contract. Drafted in 2018 out of Boston College, Landry has spent his entire NFL career with the Tennessee Titans, but rumors have been circulating for a few weeks now that Landry was on the way out at Tennessee.

Landry started every game last season, and led the team in sacks; altogether, he had 71 tackles, nine sacks, 18 pressures and four pass deflections. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2021, and having him play alongside Franklin could be an incredible asset to the Colts defense.

The problem with Landry is money. He's due upwards of $20 million, and his play can be inconsistent at times. That could easily make some teams nervous about signing him, and understandably so. The money is why the Titans are looking to cut him; they can save about $11 million, so while he's a good player, they don't see him as worth the price tag that he carries. He is a victim of the Titans' salary cap, but their loss can be the Colts gain.

At his best, Landry is a great pass rusher; he's fast and able to put up good sack numbers each season. He may not end up being the best option for Indianapolis, but it's one they should at least explore.
