As the Indianapolis Colts prepare for impending free agency, all eyes are on general manager Chris Ballard, and who he will sign. Ballard has been notoriously stingy with free agents, preferring instead to run it back with his existing roster, which has led to numerous holes in the roster and major issues with depth among multiple positions. Ballard has since insisted that he has learned his lesson, and so fans are eager to see him take advantage of the $35 million in cap space they have, and actually sign some free agents this year to turn the Colts into a serious contender.
Naturally, numerous teams are looking towards the Philadelphia Eagles, the current Super Bowl champions, and the free agents who will be available. And while some of them are bound to garner a lot of interest, there is one free agent in particular that one analyst said would be a good fit for the Colts.
Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports made predictions for each team, and said Philadelphia's Mehki Becton should sign with Indianapolis.
"The Colts have guards Will Fries and Mark Glowinski set to be free agents, creating a need at right guard. Becton -- who is still just 25 years old -- turned into a high-caliber player after kicking in from tackle to guard with the Philadelphia Eagles, and proved to be a key piece in the team's Super Bowl LIX run. While Colts head coach Shane Steichen didn't have any overlap with Becton when he was the offensive coordinator from 2021-2022, he does know the system he's coming from, which gives a better picture of how he'd fit in Indy. "Tyler Sullivan
Becton was named one of the top 50 free agents in the NFL, one of four from the Eagles, and he had a major success story in Philadelphia after floundering with the New York Jets. Sullivan's prediction is that the Colts will be able to lure Becton away with a significant pay raise.
While the Colts should do what they can to keep Will Fries, Mark Glowinski is one they should let walk. Becton could be a great addition to the offensive line... if Ballard is able to get him.
