With the 2023 NFL Draft taking place at the end of month, there’s a growing belief that Will Levis may be the quarterback the Indianapolis Colts select.
It’s officially April, and the 2023 NFL Draft will be happening at the end of the month. The Indianapolis Colts, currently holding the No. 4 pick in the draft, will be a big focus for night one of the draft. The Colts are expected to select one of the four quaquarterbacks likely to go in the first round. At this point, the only question is which quarterback.
Indianapolis’ choice will be largely impacted by the two quarterback-needy teams scheduled to pick ahead of Indy. With the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans having the first two picks, CJ Stroud and Bryce Young are expected to be the first two names called. That means the Colts will likely have to decide between Anthony Richardson and Will Levis.
While it seemed like Richardson was becoming the favorite to end up in Indianapolis, there are now reports that Levis could be Indy’s desired choice. In an appearance on SportsCenter , ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said, “Will Levis and the Colts, there is a little bit of buzz leaguewide about that pairing at No. 4 overall.” Fowler also revealed that he reached out to Kentucky’s head coach, who shared that Indy has been doing its homework on Levis.
Colts doing their homework on Will Levis
Indianapolis has been doing its homework on several quarterback options, which Fowler did admit. However, Fowler said several teams believe Will Levis makes sense for Indy because “He fits the prototype of what the Colts have typically liked in a quarterback.” Whether that’s true or not, Levis would certainly be a polarizing pick in Indy.
Of the top four quarterbacks in the draft, Levis seems to be many fans’ fourth option. Although their is concern about the throwing of Levis and Richardson, Richardson’s athleticism has helped him seperate from Levis, as everyone is convinced that Anthony Richardson has the higher ceiling. But, the Colts may not see it that way.
Levis is also a big quarterback with a strong arm and the ability to run, and he has also played in some pro-style offenses. While there is reason for concern, it’s understandable why he may be piquing the interest of Indianapolis. Whether that means the Colts will actually pick Levis or not will be determined at the end of the month.
