Quarterback Anthony Richardson finally took the practice field for the Indianapolis Colts and wide receivers coach Reggie Wayne had a hilarious reaction.
On Friday, the Indianapolis Colts started their three-day rookie minicamp. That means fourth-overall pick, Anthony Richardson, got to take the field for the first time as Indy’s quarterback, along with the rest of the rookies and young guys trying to make the roster. With several talented players in attendance, there was a ton of anticipation to see Richardson throw.
Apparently, he didn’t disappoint. Richardson had a few misses, which is to be expected for a young quarterback in his first few days in the NFL, but he also showcased the impressive arm that had people raving all throughout the pre-draft process.
Reggie Wayne, former wideout and current wide receivers coach for the Colts, had a close up look of Anthony Richardson going to work. Following the conclusion of the rookie minicamp, Wayne took to Twitter to confirm how he felt watching Richardson pass the ball.
The Barstool Indy Twitter account tweeted the scene from The Longest Yard (2005) when the older coach (Burt Reynolds) decided he wanted to go into the game. The scene represented Wayne’s reaction to seeing Anthony Richardson throw the football. Reggie Wayne hopped on Twitter to say how hilarious, and accurate, the tweet was.
Anthony Richardson has Reggie Wayne ready to play for Colts
This is great, because receivers typically only want to play with good quarterbacks. So the fact that Wayne is ready get back out there and play after seeing Richardson means that he saw some promising things. However, Wayne won’t actually be getting back on the field. He will be helping the current Colts receivers though.
With rookie wideout Josh Downs, veteran Michael Pittman Jr., and Alec Pierce entering his second season, Wayne has a talented group to help develop for Anthony Richardson to throw to.
