After being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts, quarterback Anthony Richardson and wide receiver Josh Downs couldn’t wait to get to work.

On Friday, the Indianapolis Colts started rookie minicamp. With 12 draft picks, 15 undrafted free agents, and several other players invited on a tryout basis, Indy has a ton of new faces looking to make their transition to the NFL. Of course, the biggest names of the new guys are quarterback Anthony Richardson, cornerback Julius Brents, and wide receiver Josh Downs.

Since the two were drafted, fans have already been dreaming about the Richardson to Downs connection, and how they could grow to be a special duo for the next decade or so. Apparently, Downs and Richardson had been thinking about it as well, and didn’t want to wait any longer to start building a rapport.

During his media availability on Friday, Josh Downs revealed that he and Richardson started to throw a football around in the hotel parking lot a day before the start of Indy’s rookie minicamp.

Downs’ takeaway from that throwing session was that Richardson’s arm is crazy. Anyone who watched Richardson throw at Florida or during the Combine and his Pro Day saw that was the case, but it certainly has to be a different experience when one is on the receiving end of a pass from Richardson.

Fans are hoping that Josh Downs will catch a lot of passes from Anthony Richardson in the coming years. After only officially sharing the field for one day together, it seems like that might be the case. It was just day one of rookie minicamp, but multiple reporters highlighted the rapport that Richardson and Downs are building.

Colts fans are certainly looking for any promising signs at this point of the offseason, and Anthony Richardson and Josh Downs are providing them. As the offseason continues and the season approaches, the hope is that both players develop and could be ready to contribute when Week 1 arrives.
