As we gear up for the 2024 NFL Draft, the possibilities for the Indianapolis Colts seem endless with where they currently stand.

Holding the no. 15 pick in the first round, Indianapolis has many scenarios in front of them. With some big holes on the roster and a need to continue building around quarterback Anthony Richardson, what do the Colts do?

In our latest mock draft, we do something bold. It might not be the most popular take, but here it goes.

The Colts make a significant trade up in this 2024 NFL mock draft to get Anthony Richardson an elite weapon

Chargers trade

In the first round, the Colts make a move up, jumping 10 picks and trading with the Los Angeles Chargers to obtain the no. 5 selection. With that pick, they go with the best tight end in the draft.

player. . Brock Bowers. Brock Bowers. Brock Bowers. TE. . . 1. 527

Georgia's Brock Bowers is a lock to go in the top 10, and probably the top seven picks. But, he'll be well-worth the capital spent for any team that lands him. At 6-foot-4, Bowers is essentially a big, strong and athletic wide receiver playing the tight end position.

Very rarely do you see a tight end as the best player on a top-25 collegiate offense, let alone arguably the number one team in the nation over the past couple of years. But, Bowers has done it. He's been the best player on this offense, and it's not close.

Bowers is labeled a "unicorn" by many, and for good reason. He reportedly has sub-4.50 speed and adds vision after the catch, the athleticism and footwork to get open like a top-tier wideout and simply knows how to move the chains and score touchdowns.

The tight end position has been a struggle for Indianapolis, as they've tried many different guys over the years. But with Bowers, they've got it locked down for a very long time, and Richardson has a dangerous weapon to utilize. Assuming they can re-sign Michael Pittman Jr., the team now has elite talent at all three skill positions on offense.
