As the Indianapolis Colts prepare for the offseason, here is a look at all of the important dates when the team will return for the offseason program.

The Kansas City Chiefs winning Super Bowl 57 doesn’t seem that long ago, but the NFL offseason is moving right along, and soon, teams will be returning to their facilities for offseason programs. For teams with new coaches like the Indianapolis Colts, they’ll have the opportunity to start their program earlier than the rest of the NFL.

With Shane Steichen now running things, the Colts will have a week head start on teams with returning coaches. Indy’s offseason program will consist of voluntary minicamp, rookie minicamp, organized team activies (OTAs), and mandatory minicamp. That, of course, all leads to a summer training camp as the team prepares for the 2023 season.

Here’s a closer look at the specific dates.

Colts offseason schedule

Start date: April 10

This is the beginning of the first phase of the offseason program. It’s a two-to-three-week period that consists of workouts, rehab, and meetings. There won’t be any on-field work in this phase.

Voluntary minicamp: April 24-26

Right before the NFL Draft, this three-day period is an opportunity for veterans to come in, get some field work, and work on installing the offense and defense. Evident from the title, this is completely voluntary, though, the Colts typically have good participation.

Rookie minicamp: May 5-8 or May 12-15

This minicamp is strictly for all of the players that the Colts will add in the NFL Draft and as undrafted free agents. The date isn’t determined yet because the NFL allows teams to decide if they want to host their rookie minicamps the first weekend after the draft or the second.

Organized team activities: May 23-25, May 31-June 2, June 5-8

OTAs are also voluntary but they are the most productive part of the offseason program. A total of nine days spread out across three weeks, OTAs provide teams the opportunity to have light practices.

Mandatory minicamp: June 13-15

Mandatory minicamp is the last period of the offseason program before the team returns for training camp, and obviously, it’s mandatory. This is for the entire team to gather for three days and essentially wrap up everything that they’ve worked on all offseason, before going away for their final break.
