Quarterback prospect CJ Stroud may be available for the Indianapolis Colts to select in the 2023 NFL Draft, and Indy is reportedly a fan of him.

Almost a week out from the 2023 NFL Draft, and there’s been a recent development that could shake up the top of the draft. Pretty much all offfseason, the expectation was that two quarterbacks would be selected in the first two picks. The Carolina Panthers traded up to No. 1 to take a QB, and the Houston Texans were also expected to grab a quarterback. However, that may not be the case now.

The Panthers are taking a quarterback and Bryce Young is expected to be the chosen player. Instead of the Texans taking CJ Stroud, like people have predicted all offseason, it’s now being reported that Houston may pass on a quarterback and select a top defensive player like Will Anderson Jr. While that may be hard to believe, it’s a real possibility, and a possibility that the Indianapolis Colts apparently wouldn’t mind happening.

The Colts are picking at No. 4 in the draft and are likely taking a quarterback. All offseason, it seemed like Indianapolis would be deciding between Anthony Richardson and Will Levis. However, CJ Stroud may now be an option, and Indy should love that, because Stroud reportedly has fans in Indianapolis’ organization.

Colts may be interested in drafting CJ Stroud

In a recent article by NFL reporter Albert Breer, Breer reported that “There are said to be fans of Stroud in Indy’s building.” That means that if Stroud does actually make it past the Houston Texans, Indianapolis may abandon the work they’ve done on Anthony Richardson and Will Levis, and draft Stroud with the third or fourth pick.

All throughout the pre-draft process, Stroud has been a better prospect than Richardson and Levis, for good reason. Aside from Bryce Young, CJ Stroud has the best and most consistent tape. He’s an effortless and accurate thrower of the football, and he showcased that throughout college, at the NFL Scouting Combine, and at his pro day.

Stroud is also athletic, and can run if needed, even though that wasn’t a big part of his game in college. All things considered, the possibility of Stroud making it to No. 4 has to make Indy consider rearranging its draft board. While fans had got comfortable with the idea of Richardson or Levis, they may now have to prepare for CJ Stroud being the franchise quarterback in Indianapolis.
