2. Cornerback Darrell Baker Jr.

After six seasons at Georgia Southern University and a year on the Colts practice squad, Darrell Baker Jr. is finally getting his moment. The walk-on, undrafted corner has made huge waves at the Colts training camp with many saying he deserves a starting spot on the team.

Baker Jr. played in three of the last four games of the 2022 season for the Colts, tallying one tackle and one pass defended. The 25-year-old has always been preparing for his time to shine, and knows he can be a big contributor this season.

"Whether I'm on the practice squad or whatever, I'm always preparing as a starter."

Head coach Shane Steichen had only positive things to say about the cornerback, stating he likes Baker Jr.'s "speed and aggressiveness". Steichen and defensive coordinator Gus Bradley have had Baker Jr. matching up against the team's top receivers Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce throughout camp.

Chris Ballard loves finding his gems, and he may have hit the jackpot with Darrell Baker Jr. as the underdog transforms from practice squad participant to a first team starter in one offseason.
