1. Establish the run game early

Having a solidified run game will be ultra-important in keeping Anthony Richardson composed in his first career start. Running backs Deon Jackson and Evan Hull will both play a big role in cementing a run game without Jonathan Taylor. The two young backs will join Richardson in running fresh legs through the Jaguars' defensive line throughout the game.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen is one of the NFL's best play callers, as seen in his time in Philadelphia where he led the Eagles to the Super Bowl with mobile quarterback Jalen Hurts. Steichen loves to call designed runs for the quarterback, and Anthony Richardson's mobility plays in perfectly with Steichen's offensive style.

Richardson showed his speed and strength on the ground throughout college and even in the preseason. Escaping sacks and evading pressure is something that Colts fans aren't used to, but times have changed in Indianapolis.

A mobile quarterback in the pocket can help the Colts keep a sense of mystery throughout the game. Instead of basic play calling, Steichen has the option to run option plays and designed quarterback runs that helps keep opposing defenses not knowing what's going to happen.

Expect Indianapolis to run the ball early and consistently against Jacksonville. Opening up the ground game would give Richardson the opportunity to launch deep throws against safeties that are forced to respect the run. Allowing the rookie to be flexible will be one of the most important factors in pushing the Colts towards a victory against the defending AFC South champions.
