When it comes to prospects for the 2025 Draft, there have been two candidates in particular mentioned for the Indianapolis Colts: Penn State tight end Tyler Warren, or Georgia safety Malaki Starks. Both picks make sense, as they can address serious needs for the Colts team.
However, a new mock draft has been created by Chris Trapasso for CBS Sports, and it offered a new candidate that hasn't been mentioned yet: Ohio State wide receiver Emeka Egbuka. This could possibly be because Trapasso has both Warren and Starks getting snatched up before the Colts can get to them - Warren by the Cowboys and Starks by the Dolphins - so Egbuka could just be the runner-up for Trapasso.
"Emeka Egbuka can win down the field with speed and plus ball-tracking, and his blocking prowess would mesh well with the Colts' offensive identity."Chris Trapasso
Quarterback Anthony Richardson could definitely use reliable targets in 2025; dropped balls were a consistent theme throughout the 2024 season, and Egbuka is a fantastic receiver. He's a great route runner, able to read defenses and adjust to them, he's fast, and he has also shown that he can serve as a reliable run blocker, too.
However, the problem is that wide receiver isn't necessarily on of the areas of need on the Indianapolis roster. Between Josh Downs, Alec Pierce, and Michael Pittman, Jr., the Colts have plenty of talent. A much bigger issue on the offense is at tight end, as the Indianapolis tight end room is notoriously bad.
If Warren isn't available by the time the Colts are able to make a selection, there are other tight ends who would be much better suited for what Indianapolis needs. Colston Loveland, for example, would be a good second choice if Warren is taken by another team, and would be far more beneficial to Indianapolis than another wide receiver.
