He just barely missed out on the top five.

There's no doubting that Jonathan Taylor is an incredible running back. Despite the occasional... er, mistake, he's a talented player who has practically carried the offense in 2024. He received numerous awards this season, and broke the 1,000 mark for rushing yards in a season for the third time in his career. At that point in the season, only 10 other running backs in the NFL had run for more than 1,000 yards so far this season.

So it's no surprise, really, that Taylor landed in the NFL's Top 10 when they ranked all the running backs in the league. Specifically, he just barely missed out on the top five, and came in at #6.

"Taylor had an up-and-down campaign -- very much in line with the Colts' season -- that ended on a high note with four straight 100-yard rushing performances, including 218 yards in a Week 16 win over Tennessee. His impressive ending to the 2024 campaign helped the veteran have his best season since 2021, when he was the NFL rushing champion. Shoot, Taylor eclipsed 1,400 yards despite missing three games. That's a successful individual season for the Pro Bowler; the next step is getting the Colts back to the playoffs."
Maurice Jones-Drew

Taylor ranked behind superstars like Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley - no surprise there - but above some other standouts, like Joe Mixon, Aaron Jones, and Chuba Hubbard.

As Jones-Drew noted, Taylor was able to rush for over 1,400 yards despite missing three games. That's not as much as his heyday in 2021, where he netted over 1,800 yards, but he had a huge year in 2024 compared to his performance in 2023 and 2022, when he missed significantly more games. He also played in 17 games in 2021, so this year it's easy to imagine that, had he not missed those three games, he could have had a record-high number of rushing yards for his career.

Hopefully, 2025 will be an even better year for this star RB.
