The Indianapolis Colts were crazy good in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins. The 33-8 victory was the biggest difference between a winner and a loser in the first week of the season. Was Indy that great or Miami that bad? Who cares? Colts won!
But still, life isn't always wine and roses. The truth is that each team has to lick its wounds a bit after every game. Indy is no different.
Free agent acquisition Charvarius Ward, for instance, is not in concussion protocol after getting to the team's practice facility on Monday, suffering from concussion symptoms. There is a decent chance he could miss at least Week 2. Ward is expected to be the Colts' best corner, and he would be missed against Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos.
Indianapolis Colts get some sobering news after Week 1 blowout of the Miami Dolphins
Fellow cornerback Jaylon Jones appears to have aggravated his hamstring injury. He dealt with that during the preseason, and that is not an easy injury for a player who relies on speed to be productive to overcome. Jones' injury could certainly be a longer-lasting issue than Ward's concussion (if he has one).
If Ward and Jones are both out in Week 2, rookie Jonathan Edwards will probably be elevated to a starter. That is far from ideal, but NFL players get paid good money to play a game and must produce when given a chance to start.

The good news is that running back Jonathan Taylor seems to be fine. He didn't play much in the second half of Week 1 after appearing to hurt his neck in the third quarter. In his absence, rookie DJ Giddens got a lot of work and looked good.
Taylor appears good to go for Week 2, though, and might have missed a lot of the second half of the game simply because the Indianapolis Colts were blowing out the Miami Dolphins, and there was no reason for Taylor to be in the game.
Indy did sign Ameer Abdullah to the practice squad on Monday, but that might be more an indication of what Khalil Herbert's status was. Herbert was on the practice squad and was released with the signing of Abdullah. The veteran has played in 141 games and can also return kicks.
