A former Clemson wide receiver and member of the Canadian Football League (CFL) has signed with the Indianapolis Colts, and could potentially help bolster the struggling Colts offense. Ajou Ajou, from Alberta, Canada, played one season at Clemson University before transferring to the University of South Florida in search of more playing time. Unfortunately, he suffered a season-ending sports hernia, and his career at USF was over. All together, he spent three years at the D1 level of college football.
Ajou played afterwards for the Garden City Community College Broncbusters, and at the end of the 2023 season, declared for the NFL and CFL drafts. He was chosen by the Saskatchewan Roughriders, where he showed promise.
Way to go, Ajou! 👏

The Roughriders have released the Canadian receiver to pursue NFL opportunities.
A 2024 seventh-round pick, he quickly became a fan favourite, recording 20 catches for 307 yards & 2 TDs, including a 110-yard Week 7 breakout. pic.twitter.com/TgmMTvA6GF
As noted by the Roughriders, Ajou racked up 20 receptions for 307 yards and two touchdowns, as well as one 110-yard performance. At Clemson, he had eight passes for 114 yards and a touchdown.
Multiple teams were interested in Ajou, including the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Denver Broncos. At 6'3" and nearly 220 pounds, it seems that many envision him as a tight end, though, and not a receiver; he reportedly worked out with both teams as a tight end.
The deadline to sign CFL players was February 11th, and despite having other teams interested, the Colts were able to sign Ajou first.
While Ajou's future with the Colts is yet to be determined, it seems likely that their interest is, like the Broncos and Steelers, in using him as a potential tight end. This is an area in which the Colts have great need, and while it's been assumed that Indianapolis will take Penn State's Tyler Warren in the draft to address that need, there's no guarantee yet. Ajou, if he works out well, could give the Colts the ability to pick someone like Malaki Starks, and get more depth on their struggling defense.
