Indianapolis Colts fans likely got a bit nervous earlier this week when rookie tight end Tyler Warren landed on the injury report with a toe problem. He missed practice on Wednesday, and he was limited on Thursday. On Friday, though, he was given the green light to play on Sunday.
The even better news is that one key player who missed Week 2, cornerback Charvarius Ward, appears good to go, but might have one more hurdle to clear in concussion protocol. That should likely happen before Sunday. Concussions are no joke, of course, and rushing back is a problem for the player and person. He was best kept out.
In fact, head coach Shane Steichen did not rule anyone out for Week 3, except for those players already on injured reserve, of course.
Indianapolis Colts perfectly healthy entering Week 3 versus the Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans, however, are already a bad team, starting 0-2 with a promising but raw rookie quarterback, Cam Ward, but dealing with injuries entering their AFC South showdown versus the Colts. The team's best cornerback, L'Jarius Sneed, missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday, for instance.
Their starting right tackle, J.C. Latham, also missed practice. Sneed has a back issue, and Latham has a hip problem. Even if both players were able to play against Indianapolis, they wouldn't be 100 percent, and the Titans need them to be.
Sneed did practice on Friday, but not Latham. Latham has been ruled out. Sneed said he was playing.
Indy was able to sneak a victory against a good Denver Broncos team in Week 2 with a last-second field goal, but the Colts were able to do that while missing Charvarius Ward and edge rusher Laiatu Latu. The Titans aren't good enough to scare Indianapolis in the same way Denver did, and the Colts are healthier this week.
Speaking of Latu, he is dealing with a hamstring injury but was back to full participation in practice in practice this week. He was by far Indy's best pass-rusher in Week 1, and he should excel in Week 3, too. He could be on the verge of a breakout season in his second year.
The expectation is clearly that Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts move to 3-0, and remain in first place in the AFC South. The schedule does turn a bit tougher beginning in Week 4 as Indy will have a four-game run against the Los Angeles Rams, Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, and Los Angeles Chargers.
