Colts change offseason fortunes with one wild move in new trade proposal

And it has nothing to do with quarterbacks!

Fortunately, the Colts' offseason is almost over. There's football on the horizon. Unfortunately, there's football on the horizon – before we know it, Daniel Jones is going to be under center for meaningful moments of the Colts' season. Strap in, everyone.

And if there was one thing that could get Colts fans into a good headspace before the coming 18 weeks of pain ans suffering, it'd be a trade for Trey Hendrickson. And I'm not even sure, at this point, that'd even help all that much. But it wouldn't hurt! Which is exactly what Bleacher Report is getting at in their new, kinda-wild trade proposal. At the very least, it's worth a read – it beats Daniel Jones practice updates.

Bleacher Report wants the Colts to trade for Trey Hendrickson, and the Colts should listen

Bengals Get: TE Kyle Pitts
Colts Get: DE Trey Hendrickson
Falcons Get: DT DeForest Buckner

"Cincinnati can still move Hendrickson and probably should. The Indianapolis Colts need to make a call if that's the case. His emergence as an elite pass-rusher came under the supervision of coordinator Lou Anarumo, who is now on staff with the Colts. The first-team All-Pro's presence will allow Indy to reshape its defense. Hendrickson can pair with last year's first-round pick, Laiatu Latu, while this year's second-round selection, JT Tuimoloau, can be the team's long-term rotational option. DeForest Buckner remains an outstanding interior defender, but he's been somewhat banged up the last couple of seasons and his interior pass-rush production dipped last year. Besides, Anarumo's defense was built around its defensive ends during his time with the Bengals. Plus, Buckner off the books will give the Colts some financial flexibility to sign Hendrickson to a lucrative deal."

I'm sold. Essentially swapping Bucker for Hendrickson is the type of coup that would give GMs another few years of job security. Since that's evidently not an issue for Chris Ballard, we can just call it fun and move on with our day. I'd be surprised to see this much of a Madden Trade actually happen in real life, but I've also seen weirder trade ideas surface this summer. Latu, Hendrickson, and Tuimoloau would be as high-ceiling as any defensive front outside of Philly, and it'd make at least half of Colts games worth watching. When you're running out Daniel Jones *on purpose,* half a fun game is just about all you can ask for.
