Tyler Warren sounds even better than advertised after strong Colts summer workouts

Maybe the Colts' offense won't be a mess after all?!

There's only one way to make the Colts' QB situation tolerable, and that's by avoiding it entirely. Let's just pretend the Colts don't have a QB. Throwing the ball is antiquated and boring. So antiquated and boring, in fact, that we don't even need to think about it.

Instead, reader, consider Tyler Warren. Warren enters his rookie season in Indianapolis with sky-high expectations, which is typically what happens when you're a first round pick tasked with basically fixing the offense. And if you think that's way too much responsibility for one rookie tight end, I'd typically agree – except in this specific case. In this specific case, it sounds like Warren is extremely up to the task, and basically already the next Brock Bowers, but better. The latest ESPN offseason practice report thingy about Warren almost – almost – makes you forget about all the Colts' other problems.

The Tyler Warren hype has officially arrived in Indianapolis

"It was practically impossible to watch an Indianapolis practice and not notice how often Warren touched the football. Any doubts about him having a notable role were erased in the first week of OTAs, when he could be seen running drag routes or matching up with linebackers in the middle of the field. The Colts had a league-low 39 receptions from their tight ends last season, but expect that to improve. 'I think he's had a great spring," quarterback Daniel Jones said of Warren. "He's made a lot of plays for us out here, and you can see his feel, his instincts, his strength, just his ability to go up and catch the ball.'"

If you ignore the quarterback that's quoted in this blurb, you can almost actually feel real excitement! Drag routes! Matching up with linebackers! Touching the football! All of those things are great. Each and every one of those things will probably go a long ways in fixing the whole 'literally no tight end production' aspect of their offense. The Colts might be a mess this year, but Tyler Warren (probably) won't be. If you're already impressing Daniel Jones, the sky's the limit.
