After two worrying games, especially defensively, the Indianapolis Colts stole a victory they had to have in Week 3 against AFC South rival, the Houston Texans. The offense was relatively efficient, even without wide receiver Alec Pierce, but the defense was surprisingly fantastic.
That shouldn't change in Week 4, even as the team travels to London, England, to play its third international game in the last four seasons. Last year worked out well as Indy defeated the Atlanta Falcons in Germany. Let's hope for the same in Week 4.
What Colts fans don't know yet is whether Lou Anarumo's defense will be facing Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels (dislocated elbow) or backup Marcus Mariota. Mariota was good enough to beat the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3, though, so anything is possible, including the following.
Bold predictions for the Indianapolis Colts versus the Washington Commanders in Week 4
Sauce Gardner has two interceptions
Gardner has already stamped himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL through his first four-plus seasons, but what he doesn't do is intercept passes. He has only three in his career. That is partly due to quarterbacks not throwing the ball his way, but he also has a few dropped passes.
No matter who plays quarterback for the Commanders, Jayden Daniel or Marcus Mariota, Washington is likely going to try a few deep passes to wide receiver Terry McLaurin. Gardner could make a play for at least one of those. At some point, the Colts cornerback is going to start stealing passes because he is simply too good not to.
Jonathan Taylor has 23 yards rushing
Washington is dreadful against the pass, but they are excellent against the run. Teams can score against them, but that is more likely to come through the air. The Commanders' stout front is third in rushing yards allowed per game (82.0) and 11th in yards given up per carry (3.8).
Taylor is obviously one of the best running backs of his generation, but Week 4 is probably going to be one won or lost on the arm of quarterback Daniel Jones. The running back might do more damage as a receiver than by rushing the ball on Sunday in London.
Tyler Warren will have 10 catches and two touchdowns
While Warren didn't get off to a red-hot start for Indianapolis this season, he has increased his production each week by three catches. What hasn't followed is a lot of yards. His high came in Week 3 with 55, but on nine catches. He does have two touchdown receptions this year, though.
All of his potential and increased production should come together against the Commanders, a team that doesn't cover tight ends well at all. Washington has given up the seventh-most receiving yards to tight ends (202), but on just 14 catches. Warren could finally have some explosive plays in Week 4. Plus, five of the passes to tight ends against Washington in three games have been for touchdowns.
