Jeff Saturday and others expressed their disappointment with the Indianapolis Colts for not reacting to Kayvon Thibodeaux’s celebration.

On Sunday, the Indianapolis Colts suffered another embarrassing loss, this time losing 38-10 to the New York Giants. While being blown out is never good, it’s a reality that has become a norm for the Colts in 2022. With the team sitting at 4-11-1, these brutal losses have become somewhat of an expectation. However, Indianapolis still finished the game with a lot of people angry at the team for a different reason.

One of the biggest moments of Sunday’s game was when Giants rookie defender, Kayvon Thibodeaux, sacked Nick Foles. Foles was injured on the play and while he was on the ground clutching his ribs, Thibodeaux was next to him doing snow angels. It was a celebration from Thibodeaux that was immediately criticized on social media. On Monday, Indy’s interim head coach, Jeff Saturday, criticized both Thibodeaux and the Colts.

Saturday referred to Kayvon Thibodeaux’s actions as “tasteless” and “trash” but expressed that he was especially disappointed with the offensive line and Colts team as a whole for more or less allowing Thibodeaux to celebrate next to Indy’s injured quarterback. Saturday said that he will be talking with the team about it, and he also wasn’t the only person upset with Indy’s reaction.

Immediately after the situation happened, Gabrielle Gilmore, Stephon Gilmore’s wife, took to Twitter and said, “And nobody on the team threw hands? Lol.” Following the game, Gregg Doyel of the IndyStar wrote a piece where he questioned the team’s pride, honor, and courage. This is just the latest installment of embarrassing moments from a Colts’ season that everyone wants to be over already.

As far as the linemen and offensive players that could’ve taken immediate issue with Thibodeaux’s actions, it’s unclear if they just weren’t paying any attention to the Giants’ defender or if Indy’s players were just focused on getting Nick Foles some help. Either way, the reaction from the Colts has led to scrutiny and assumptions. Many have argued that this shows the locker room has fallen apart and that the players are mentally checked out of the season already.

Whether that is the case or not, Indianapolis has one more game this season in Week 18 against the Houston Texans. The Colts don’t have anything to play for but pride, so it’ll be a good opportunity to see how they can rally together as a team.
