Thanks to college, Micah Parsons knows it’ll be tough to stop Jonathan Taylor when Cowboys take on Colts
The Indianapolis Colts will play the Dallas Cowboys in Week 13, putting former Big 10 rivals, Jonathan Taylor and Micah Parsons, against each other again.
Week 13’s Sunday Night Football matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and the Dallas Cowboys may be being overlooked since Indy is presumably outmatched, but the game does put two of the league’s best young stars against each other. It will be the first time that Jonathan Taylor and Micah Parsons face off as professionals. However, it won’t be the two’s first time sharing a football field.
Taylor and Parsons were in college at the same time and both attended Big 10 schools. Taylor was a running back for Wisconsin and Parsons played linebacker at Penn State. During their collegiate careers, both were stars, and they faced each other just once. They played in November of 2018 and Penn State defeated Wisconsin 22-10.
Although the Nittany Lions were victorious, Jonathan Taylor definitely left his mark on the game. On Wisconsin’s first series of the game, Taylor received three straight carries. On the third carry, Taylor broke off a 71-yard touchdown run. He would finish the game with 20 rushes for 185 yards and one touchdown.
Micah Parsons also had an impactful day, leading Penn State with seven tackles. Though he got the win over Taylor that day, Parsons saw firsthand just how special Taylor is. With the Cowboys currently preparing to take on Taylor and the Colts, Parsons explained why Jonathan Taylor is such a good running back.
Micah Parsons praises Jonathan Taylor ahead of Colts-Cowboys game
Just recently, Parsons, who’s 23 years old, was named the best player under 25 in the NFL. Last season, it was Jonathan Taylor, also 23, that was finding himself toward the top of those lists. He came in at No. 18 on this year’s version of the list. The reason why Taylor isn’t towards the top like he was entering the season is that it’s been an underwhelming year for him, and the Colts as a whole.
With Indy’s offensive line regressing, and Taylor battling an ankle injury earlier in the year, Jonathan Taylor hasn’t been able to run up the numbers that many people thought he would. That’s why all signs are pointing to Parsons getting another win over Taylor, just with the Cowboys this time.
However, Indy’s run game has improved marginally and Taylor has been consistently getting more yards than he was earlier in the season as of late. That doesn’t mean that he’ll be able to lead the Colts to a win over Dallas, but Taylor could have some bright moments against the Micah Parsons-led Cowboys.
