The Indianapolis Colts get their season started on Sunday against the Houston Texans. Here are the best bets for this Week 1 game.

Finally, the NFL season is here. The last time the Indianapolis Colts played an official game they suffered a meltdown in Week 18 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. That disappointing performance shaped Indy’s offseason and the team is now motivated to move past that and prove itself as one of the best teams this season. That all starts with beating the Houston Texans on Sunday.

While Indy has struggled to win season openers in the past, the Colts have been very focused on starting the year fast and that should be evident when they take the field. There will be plenty of storylines to watch, especially for gambling purposes. From spreads to prop bets, there’s a lot of good action in this game so let’s take a look at some of the best bets.

Best Colts bets Week 1

3. Colts Moneyline -340

According to FanDuel, Indianapolis is -340 favorites to win on Sunday. That means betting $340 on the Colts to get a victory will win $100. This is one of the best bets this week because Indy is simply on another level than Houston right now.

In two matchups last season, Indianapolis beat the Texans by a combined score of 62-3. The Colts have gotten better but the same can’t be said for Houston. Indy is motivated to reach its goals this year so they will go and take care of business in Houston.

2. Colts will cover the -7.5 spread

FanDuel has the spread for this game set at 7.5 points in favor of Indianapolis. The odds that Indy will win by eight or more points are -106. That means a $106 bet will win $100. This seems like a pretty safe bet.

As highlighted in the last point, the Colts beat Houston by a combined score of 62-3 in two games last season. Things haven’t been close between the two squads and the Texans have given little reason to believe that will change.

1. Jonathan Taylor over 99.5 rushing yards

FanDuel has Jonathan Taylor’s rushing yards for this game at a modest over/under of 99.5. The reason that’s modest is that Taylor averaged 106.5 yards a game last season and he was even more dominant against the Texans.

The odds of Jonathan Taylor having 100 or more yards in this game is -114 (bet $114 to win $100). Taylor played Houston twice last season and ran for 145 and 143 yards. He’s still the central focus of this offense so he should be able to surpass the century mark in his first action of the season.
