Colts are getting a motivated Texans team in Week 1
The Indianapolis Colts are taking on a rebuilding Houston Texans team in Week 1 but the Texans are motivated to get the upset on Sunday.
Since the Indianapolis Colts have failed to win a season opener in each of the last eight years, many fans were delighted to see that Indy will be starting this season against the Houston Texans. Houston is expected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL, so fans are expecting Indianapolis to dominate and finally bring the opening-day losing streak to an end.
The Colts are favorites to win for good reason. The Texans have a roster with a lot of question marks and Indianapolis has one of the best rosters in the NFL. Additionally, Indy has absolutely demolished Houston in the last two meetings. The Colts won the games by a score of 31-3 and 31-0. That’s why everyone’s expecting Indianapolis to win.
However, those two scores from last season are also what’s motivating the rebuilding Texans team. Houston’s second-year quarterback, Davis Mills, was honest with the media this week saying that this game is kind of “like a grudge” for Houston since they were embarrassed twice last season by Indy.

Texans are preparing for “a grudge” match with Colts
This is the competitive mindset that a team should have after being thoroughly dominated. However, Houston’s mindset shouldn’t matter as long as Indianapolis shows up on Sunday focused and ready to handle business.
The Colts are the better team, however, they can’t afford to overlook the Texans. Even if they are a bad team, they’re still NFL players and it seems like they’re motivated to get a win, specifically against Indianapolis. Indy can’t allow that to happen.
The Colts finished last season by losing to a team they had no business being in a competitive game with. If they start this season out the same way then they clearly haven’t learned their lesson. They have to be focused and execute on all levels come Sunday.
