The Indianapolis Colts open the season on the road against the Houston Texans. Here are the odds and a prediction for the game.

After a long offseason, the NFL regular season is finally here and the Indianapolis Colts will get things started on the road in a divisional matchup against the Houston Texans. Indianapolis is expected to be a top contender this year and Houston is believed to be in the running for the No. 1 overall pick, so this is a game that Indy should win.

If the Colts take care of business like they’re expected to, they will start the season 1-0 with an important AFC South win. However, this is the NFL, so the Texans aren’t going to just give them the win, Indy must earn it. Let’s take a look at the odds for the Week 1 matchup.

Colts vs. Texans odds Week 1

According to the odds at FanDuel, Indianapolis is the favorite at -370 (bet $360 to win $100). The Texans, however, are +295 underdogs, meaning a $100 bet on a Houston victory would win $295. No surprise, Indy’s expected to win, but by how much?

The spread for this game is 7.5 points. The odds of the Colts winning by eight or more points are -114 (bet $114 to win $100). For Houston, the odds of the Texans losing by seven points or less is -106 (bet $106 to win $100).

The over/under for the game is set at 45.5. The odds for both teams to have a combined 46 points or more is -112, while the odds that the combined score is 45 points or less is -108.

Colts vs Texans prediction Week 1

Indianapolis should dominate Houston because that’s what they’ve been doing in the last couple of matchups between the two teams. Last season, the Colts beat the Texans in Week 6 by a score of 31-3 and again in Week 13, 31-0. Since then, Indy has added several pieces to improve its roster but the Texans haven’t made many monumental moves.

Expect Indianapolis to get the year started with another dominant win and for them to cover the spread. However, it seems unlikely that this game will hit the over on points. While the Colts should score a lot, they may not have much help from Houston.
