1. Alec Pierce must emerge as a consistent threat for Colts

Indianapolis used its first pick in this year’s draft on wide receiver Alec Pierce and he was the only help the team added to a struggling wide receiver unit. That means the Colts have high expectations for Pierce and a lot of belief in the rookie.

So far, Pierce’s journey has had some growing pains. At times, he’s looked like the promising draft pick that everyone believes he will be and other times he’s looked like a young receiver still adjusting. His best moment was probably in the first joint practice against the Detroit Lions where he absolutely dominated their secondary. However, Pierce hasn’t really had a productive preseason game yet.

While seeing a lot of snaps in Indianapolis’ first two preseason games, Pierce has only recorded 3 catches for 36 yards. While it’s just the preseason and it ultimately doesn’t matter, you still would like to see a promising performance from the team’s top selection.

Pierce will have the opportunity to deliver on Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He will be playing the entire first half along with the rest of the starters, so it will be the perfect time for him to show that Indianapolis will have another dependable receiver besides Michael Pittman Jr.
