Talented receiver David Bell recently spoke to the media about what it would mean to play for his hometown Indianapolis Colts.

As the NFL Draft approaches, the Indianapolis Colts desperately need to add receivers. It’s safe to assume that Indy will likely use its first pick, and others, on selecting a talented receiver.

One of the most talented receivers in the draft is Purdue University’s David Bell. Bell also happens to be from Indianapolis. This has led many to highlight how cool it would be if the Colts drafted Bell.

Bell has joined in the conversation, also saying how special it would be if he got the chance to play for his hometown team. At Purdue’s Pro Day on Tuesday, Bell spoke with reporters and discussed what it would mean to play in front of his family and friends.

David Bell says it would be nice to play for Colts

David Bell makes it clear that playing his professional career in Indianapolis is something he is on board with, now the ball is in the Colts’ court.

Most experts and mock drafts expect Bell to be on the board for Indianapolis’ first selection at No. 42. Some even expect Bell to be available when Indy picks again in the third round.

Indianapolis should have the chance to make this great story a reality but it will be a question of if the Colts love David Bell as a prospect as much as the fan base does.

Indy should love Bell as a prospect because he dominated the collegiate level. In 29 games at Purdue, Bell caught 232 passes for 2,946 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also had six carries for 51 yards, and one touchdown in his career, while also being a Biletnikoff finalist in his final season.

He demonstrated every skill you hope to find in an NFL receiver. Bell was able to take short screens and break them for long runs and also was able to stretch the field making spectacular grabs deep.

The reason Bell is likely to be available for the Colts in the second or third round is that this is a deep receiver class and some scouts have overreacted to his 4.65 40-yard dash.

Bell’s tape speaks for itself. He may not have the speed to impress a stopwatch but he has the speed to get open and score touchdowns and that’s the business he is entering.

The Colts will have the chance to get a better look at Bell when they host their own Pro Day on April 11. If they are impressed with what they see, there’s a chance that Indianapolis calls Bell’s name on April 29.
