Legendary Indianapolis Colts receiver, Reggie Wayne, was not selected to the 2022 NFL Hall of Fame Class.

Wide receiver Marvin Harrison was a Hall of Fame finalist for three years before he was finally selected in 2016. Many thought his Indianapolis Colts running mate, Reggie Wayne, would have the same path and get into the Hall in his third year of eligibility.

Unfortunately, Wayne will have to wait at least one more year as he wasn’t selected to the 2022 NFL Hall of Fame Class.

Wayne has been a finalist each of the three years he’s been eligible but he hasn’t been able to officially gain entry into professional football’s most prestigious club.

On Thursday night at the NFL Honors, the eight enshrinees that make up the 2022 class were officially revealed.

Reggie Wayne continues to wait for Hall of Fame

Although Wayne hasn’t got over the hump yet, it’s safe to assume that it’s only a matter of time until he does. In his time with the Colts he certainly built a Hall of Fame resume.

In 14 seasons, all with Indianapolis, Wayne played in 211 regular-season games, catching 1,070 passes for 14,345 yards and 82 touchdowns. All second in Colts history to Harrison.

Wayne played in 21 postseason games, adding 93 receptions for 1,254 yards, nine touchdowns, and of course a Super Bowl 41 victory.

Reggie Wayne currently has the 10th-most receiving yards in NFL history, proving that he is not only one of the best receivers of his era but of all time.

In due time, Wayne will have a bust in Canton to reflect that. The process is taking longer than Wayne and the rest of Colts Nation had hoped, but this is a familiar place for Wayne.

During his playing career, Wayne and Indianapolis were met with disappointment year after year in the playoffs before finally getting over the hump and winning a Super Bowl in the 2006 season.

The challenges in the journey made reaching the destination that much sweeter and Wayne’s inevitable enshrinement will be no different.

Wayne will be in the Hall of Fame eventually. It just won’t be with the 2022 class.
