Many will think that Indianapolis has a need to draft a cornerback in the second round because of veterans like Xavier Rhodes not performing well this season. What they don’t see is the production out of Rock Ya-Sin and Isaiah Rodgers.

Both Ya-Sin and Rodgers might not be the big names you want to see, but they are playing the best in pass coverage out of all Colts this season. Because the Colts have a young core on the outside, they need to focus a pick on safety depth.

Going out and drafting a player like National Champion Lewis Cine gets you that much-needed depth that can rotate in a lineup at the strong safety position. When healthy, Julian Blackmon and Khari Willis could be the best safety duo in the NFL. However, we haven’t seen that for very long.

Cine is the kind of safety that is smart and a heavy-hitter. He is capable of making the tackle in the open field as well. Cine is a playmaker that the defense could use in the secondary.

In addition to his play as a starting safety, he could make an impact in special teams as well. This will be helpful when both Blackmon and Willis are healthy.

If you need a few attributes that Cine has to justify a second-round pick on a depth piece, it would be his quickness, toughness, and ability to make plays in the open field. He’d be a perfect fit in Indianapolis.
