Colts should pursue Davante Adams

Davante Adams will be one of the biggest names on the market, and Indy signing him may be a longshot, but they should definitely aggressively pursue him.

The Green Bay Packers currently have the best record in the NFL. The trio of Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Jones, and Adams is looking as dominant as ever. The current success may have caused many to forget the off-season drama that took place in Green Bay.

Rodgers desired to leave and Adams desired a new contract, but neither got what they wanted. They both reached an agreement with the team to play this season and have used social media posts to allude to it being their “last dance.”

That means at the conclusion of the season, even if Green Bay wins it all, Rodgers and Adams are leaving. The majority of the NFL will be putting in a bid to land one or both of them.

Many have speculated on the possibility that Adams will follow Rodgers or reunite with his college quarterback, Derek Carr, in Las Vegas. However, the Colts have everything necessary to deliver a lucrative recruiting pitch to Adams.

Indianapolis will have over $57 million in cap space, so it can make him the highest-paid receiver. Indy already has a top-five offense with a veteran quarterback, so he will be joining a productive system. Most importantly, the Colts are already contenders, so he can come somewhere where the Super Bowl is in reach.

Whether Adams or any other free agent receivers want to accept those circumstances is up to them, but Indianapolis must lay it out for the receivers to choose from. Adding a dynamic receiver to this roster will do wonders for the team’s chances of being a threat in the coming years.
