Colts 2020 Mock Draft 3.0: Quarterback, wide receiver addressed early
It’s clear, as was mentioned on the last slide, that the Colts need to find help at quarterback and on the defensive line. In this mock, Indianapolis doesn’t get an opportunity at a top signal caller in round one, but they do get one of the top defensive linemen.
The defensive line of Denico Autry, Margus Hunt, and Tyquan Lewis outperformed expectations in 2019, but an influx of talent is needed here to boost this defense. This is where South Carolina defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw comes in.
It’s possible that some NFL teams will grade Kinlaw higher than Derrick Brown on their boards, and it’s understandable why. Kinlaw is a superb pass rusher on the interior, using a great first step, violent hands, and athleticism to win around the corner and win quickly on the interior. He possesses great lower body strength and has an array of moves, including the strength to collapse the pocket with a bull rush.
The combine is going to be a place for Kinlaw to shine. His athleticism and length for his size will jump out immediately next week, especially in the agility drills. This is a home run pick for the Colts at number 13 overall.
