The Indianapolis Colts got a huge win against the Tennesse Titans with a 19-17 score and a defensive stand on 4th and 2.

The Indianapolis Colts sent a message to the AFC South in their win: our defense can step up when needed. Darius Leonard got a sack, and Denico Autry had 2 sacks on big plays for the Colts. Ebron also caught a touchdown and had a few key plays. T.Y Hilton was a big factor with a touchdown pass in traffic to take the lead.

Grover Stewart got into the action:

On a key play in the mid-second quarter, Parris Cambell runs a perfect corner route for the touchdown:

Ebron got into the action with a shovel pass from Brissett leading the Colts to the first lead of the game:

However, the story of the game was the defense stepping up when they needed to. The Colts ran the clock down and gave the ball back to the Titans with about 1:20 left but forced the Titans to use all their timeouts. With 10 seconds left, the Titans missed the 4th-down play and turned the ball over on downs leading to the Colts victory.

What continues to be a sore thumb is Vinatieri’s inconsistent play. Last week he left 7 points on the first with a missed extra point and 2 field goals and today he missed two extra points. The kicking game lost the game last week by 6 points and would be 2-0 right now. Vinatieri either needs to get his mind right or leave.

What’s also annoying for the Colts is their inability to put games away. The score should’ve been 21-17 not 19-17 with the missed kicks Vinitari had. What’s also important to the Colts success is executing when they need to. Brissett threw an awful interception which, thankfully, was on the Tennessee side and the Colts’ defense held them to a punt.

What’s exciting is how well the defense played against a decent offense that blew up last week. Mariota ended the game with 154 yards and a touchdown with 19/24 competitions. The Colts got 4 sacks on him thanks to the secondary.

Derek Henry had 15 touches for 81 yards and a touchdown with a 5.4 average. The Colts secondary was the talk of the game with not allowing 40 yards or more to a single player on the Titans team. Walker led the team with 39 yards, followed by Corey Davis with 38 and A.J. Brown with 25.

The Titans also had 2 sacks on  Brissett but Cameron Wake was held to 1 tackle, which is important for the development of the offensive line.

All-in-all, it was a great day for both sides of the ball, but Adam Vinatieri needs to get his mind right or needs to let someone else take over the kicking duties.

Indianapolis is 1-1 on the season and 1-0 in the division taking the lead in the AFC South.

The Texans, who got a win against the Jaguars, are 1-0 in the division, the Titans, who are 1-1 on the season, are now 0-1 in the division, and the Jaguars who are 0-1 in the division but 0-2 on the season.
