The draft is getting closer with each day, and the combine is also this week. So who will the Colt take in this updated mock draft before we see those combine results?

The Colts have only a few glaring needs that they need to take care of. Before, I wrote that the Colts would take care of one of those with their first round pick. But with all of the rumors that have been swirling around, I think they choose to take care of another.

On defense, they weren’t able to generate consistent pass rush from anyone. That needs to change if they want to take that next step next season. Some guys looked dominant at times, while others didn’t bring their A game in every single game.

player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Dre'Mont Jones. 46. DT. Ohio State. 26

I think the Colts might address that problem along the defensive front. Denico Autry was really good once they moved him over to defensive tackle. But he might be able to generate more pass rush as an end every now and then. The Colts also need to build more depth at defensive tackle.

Dre’Mont Jones would give them that depth. Having watched him his whole career at Ohio State, he always seems to be in the backfield making plays and getting to the quarterback. He might have been the most valuable lineman for OSU after Nick Bosa went down.

Jones can slide in next to Autry or Margus Hunt and give them a pass rushing threat on third down from the inside. Add that to Tyquan Lewis and Jabaal Sheard on the outside, and you have a stout front who can give an offense some problems in passing situations.

Next. Colts need to be wary of taking a step back. dark

It wouldn’t shock me to see the Colts stick with a wide receiver with their first round pick, but Jones might be needed just a little bit more.
