The Colts will have several spots up for grabs come training camp time. Here are a few players to keep an eye on once camp starts.

Training camp will start later this summer, and there is plenty to watch for once the Colts convene for it. There are plenty starting spots that are wide open on both sides of the ball. With that in mind, here are a few players to watch come camp time.

Braden Smith is the first player to keep an eye. The second round pick will have to fight in a suddenly crowded offensive line to get a starter spot. Three spots are already sewn up with Anthony Castonzo, Quenton Nelson, and Ryan Kelly manning one side of the line. The two other o-line spots are going to be earned in camp, and Smith has a chance to win that other guard spot.

Another battle to watch is at the cornerback position. Neither cornerback position is set in stone, although Quincy Wilson looks like he should occupy one of those spots. That leaves Pierre Desir, Nate Hariston, and Kenny Moore to fight for the other starting corner and the nickel spots.

Backup running back is another sport to watch. With Robert Turbin‘s suspension, it will be interesting to see which of the two rookies slide into that spot with Turbin sidelined for the first four games of the year.

The most intriguing battle might be on the defensive line. None of the spots are locked in with the new system change. It seems likely that Hassan Ridgeway and Jabaal Sheard will start, but it’s not a given. The defensive end spot is most intriguing, with John Simon, Tarell Basham and Sheard all fighting for starting spots.
