Indianapolis Colts Safety Malik Hooker Back on the Field for OTA’s
By Andrew Ites
Colts safety Malik Hooker is working his way back from a torn ACL, and he posted a video showing him doing some drills on the field at OTA’s.
Colts rookie Malik Hooker was off to an outstanding start to his NFL career last season.
Hooker picked off three passes with four pass breakups through seven games of his rookie year, and he was becoming the type of player general manager Chris Ballard hoped for when he took Hooker in the first round of the draft.
Then Hooker tore his ACL following an ugly collision while chasing down a big run against the Jaguars on October 22nd.
We hadn’t heard much news about the former Ohio State safety’s recovery this offseason, which caused some concern among Colts fans.
Hooker blessed us with a video on Twitter of him participating in some on-field drills during OTA’s, which helped the fanbase in Indianapolis let out a small sigh of relief.

The Colts will head into 2018 with an extremely young secondary.
Rashaan Melvin moved on from Indianapolis in free agency, and Chris Ballard essentially refused to make a move in the draft or free agency to add to their defensive backfield.
Frank Reich and the new coaching staff will be looking to Hooker for his leadership and playmaking ability on the back end of the defense next season.
Hooker still has a long way to go before he’s ready to suit up for the 2018 regular season, but the latest update in his recovery from knee surgery is a positive one.
