The Horseshoe Heroes community voted on who they want to see the Colts pick in the upcoming draft. Here is their first round selection.

We conducted a series of Twitter polls to see who Colts fans would select if they were in general manager Chris Ballard’s shoes on draft night.

The Twitter poll for the Colts’ first round pick presented the Horseshoe Heroes community four different options for the sixth overall pick: linebacker Roquan Smith, cornerback Minkah Fitzpatrick, defensive back Derwin James, and offensive guard Quenton Nelson.

An overwhelming majority of the Horseshoe Heroes community voted to select Quenton Nelson as 69 percent of the 122 voters chose to pick the guard out of Notre Dame.

It’s hard to argue with that selection as Nelson may be the most pro-ready prospect in the entire draft class.

The Colts re-signed guard Jack Mewhort and signed free agent guard/center Matt Slauson this offseason, but both of those players struggled with injuries last year. Even with those additions, guard is still definitely a position of need in Indianapolis if the Colts want to keep Andrew Luck upright next season.

The Colts’ coaching staff could also give Nelson an opportunity to play outside as right tackle is the most questionable position on the offensive line heading into 2018.

If Quenton Nelson is on the board at number six overall, I’d expect Chris Ballard to make the same move as the Horseshoe Heroes community. And it looks like most of the fanbase would certainly feel good about that pick.
