Indianapolis Colts 2017 Rookie of the Year: Marlon Mack
By Ryan Dunne
For this award, we are naming the best rookie from the Indianapolis Colts’ 2017 roster.
If he hadn’t gotten injured early in the year, it looked like it could’ve gone to safety Malik Hooker who was providing a lot of great plays on defense. Hooker, who only played seven games this year before going down with an torn ACL injury, finished tied for first on the team with three interceptions.
However, the award will go to running back Marlon Mack.
Mack rushed for 330 yards on 86 carries this year, both were second on the team behind fellow starter Frank Gore, with an average of 3.8 yards a carry and two touchdowns. He also contributed in the passing game with 19 catches for 215 yards with an average of 11.3 yards a catch and a touchdown as well.

There is no doubt that Mack is part of the future of this team. Every time he touches the ball, he provides a spark to an offense that didn’t have much of a flame throughout the course of the year.
His quickness and speed stands out when you watch him play. He has tremendous vision as well, and he can break loose at any given second. Next year, Mack will look to see the field more with a full season under his belt.
With Gore getting up there in age and will probably walk away from the game sooner rather than later, Mack will be a running back the Colts must keep around for the future.
