FanSided created a list of the 250 best fanbases in the world, and Colts fans were shut out. Did they make a mistake, or were they right?
It’s pretty impossible to objectively rank which fanbases are the world’s best, especially when you’re dealing with a multitude of categories that include brands, celebrities, comics, and gaming along with the fanbases of traditional sports.
Colts fans have always been overlooked when considering the NFL’s best fanbases. However, Lucas Oil Stadium may be one of the league’s toughest environments to play in when the team is successful.
During the Peyton Manning era, the crowd was trained to be completely silent when the offense was on the field to allow Manning to call out audibles at the line of scrimmage. But the crowd would also turn up the volume to 100 when the opposing offense was on the field, which helped Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney rack up the sacks on critical third downs.
The last few years have been a bit disappointing, but the fanbase has held strong in hopes of returning to the playoffs and competing for championships once again.
